Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
God of vision, keep us motivated, working together, and following our HOPE in your righteous priorities. Lead us as global citizens focusing on others and respecting the inherent worth of everyone, in service and CHARITY for your glory. Make it hard for us to swallow our portions until others are fed. Show us how to keep FAITH and steer the habit of war into a way of peace. May we never stop passing on the blessings you gracefully give. Bring about the day where we all turn our swords into plowshares by laying down our guns and doing everything we can to build sustainable communities. #ACoBAmen
*This #BlessedBreak was inspired by a children’s story about the Seagoing Cowboys of the 1940s who travelled all over the world as part of an interfaith, self-help program to ship livestock to people in poverty. It is the story of Heifer International‘s founding. The prayer was adapted from a play created in honor of Heifer’s 60th Anniversary: http://bit.ly/DanWestMonologue
