During summer hours (2nd Sunday in June to 2nd Sunday in September) everyone worships together at 10:00 a.m. and there is nursery care for infants and toddlers, but no classes. On the 2nd and 4th Sundays of summer, children and middlers are invited to the library for a quiet craft where they are still adjacent to the sanctuary and part of the service while being engaged in an activity rather than being required to sit still.
On the 3rd Sunday in September, Sunday morning classes will resume weekly at 9:45 am. On the second Sunday of even months we have Big Sunday School.
Fall, Winter + Summer Classes
- Library Class, open discussion for adults. Some weeks we’ll view and discuss the latest episode of Brethren Voices, other times we’ll let the folks who are present decide what they want to talk about.
- Upstairs Adults, taught by Carol Cory & Nancy Weimer
Topics are chosen based on the current interests of the class attendees. New attendees are always welcome.
- Senior High, taught by Debbie Miller
Getting to know Jesus through various activities and discussions. The youth combine class readings, discussion and craft activities with outdoor adventures to learn what it takes to follow Jesus in today’s world. Challenges invite each youth to make their own decisions and encourage priorities that put the Jesus Way first.
- Toddler and early elementary, taught by Alma Gallego
The Gather Round curriculum continues to provide the right mix for this spread of ages. Watch for news for new opportunities for elementary children this fall. Send an email or call if you want to be notified when changes are finalized.
- Children of other ages, Activities are available on the weeks between Big Sundays that relate to the Bible story of the month.
- Big Sunday School, taught by Pastor Nancy
On the second Sunday of even months, “Big Sunday” an Inter-generational Program, involves people of all ages in the Fellowship Hall (and sometimes outdoors). We are introduced to a story or concept, explore it in fun multi-generational and interactive ways, and then often spend some concluding time with coffee in conversation amongst the older folks and crafts for the wee ones. Everyone is welcome to explore the Christian faith at Arlington CoB.
Nursery care is arranged as requested for the class hour and is provided year round during the worship service. Christian education activities are offered during the nursery worship hour twice per month in addition to the supervised play. We have certified childcare volunteers both within the congregation and contracted to come in two Sundays per month. When there are not two adults in the nursery, a volunteer “floater” visits the nursery off and on during the worship hour to assist with any needs that arise.
