Sunday Classes

IMG_5408

On the 2nd Sunday in September, Sunday morning classes resume weekly at 9:45 am. Check the calendar for periodic inter-generational Big Sunday School when we all learn and play together.

During summer hours (2nd Sunday in June to 1st Sunday in September) everyone worships together at 10:00 a.m. and there is nursery care for infants and toddlers, but no classes. On the 2nd and 4th Sundays of summer, children and middlers are invited to the library for a quiet craft where they are still adjacent to the sanctuary and part of the service while being engaged in an activity rather than being required to sit still.

Fall, Winter + Summer Classes

Adults

  • Upstairs Adults, taught by Nancy Weimer
Topics are chosen based on the current interests of the class attendees. New attendees are always welcome. We meet in room 303 on the third floor.

Children

Children from ACOB and our building partners Bethel UCC join together while Bethel adults worship in the sanctuary. Both use the Shine curriculum.

  • Toddler and early elementary, taught by Alma Gallego. Meets in the basement classroom on the side of the building next to the lower parking lot.
  • Children in grades 2-6, taught by Judy Norton. Meets in the upstairs classroom, room 301.

Intergenerational

  • Big Sunday School, taught by Alma
Periodically, “Big Sunday” an Inter-generational Program, involves people of all ages in the Fellowship Hall (and sometimes outdoors). We are introduced to a story or concept, explore it in fun multi-generational and interactive ways, and then often spend some concluding time with coffee in conversation amongst the older folks and crafts for the wee ones. Everyone is welcome to explore the Christian faith at Arlington CoB.

Nursery

Nursery care is arranged as requested for the class hour and is provided year round during the worship service. All child care volunteers have passed background checks and other safety measures. When there are not two adults in the nursery, a volunteer “floater” visits the nursery off and on during the worship hour to assist with any needs that arise.
